NEWS : 4th October 2012 Riding and bathing activity has been terminated
for unknown reason, we do not know when the center will resume back these
activity.
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks established Kuala
Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre in 1989. The centre is a
base for the Elephant Relocation Team, which began the elephant
translocation programme in 1974.
The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to
locating, subduing and then translocating problem elephants from
areas where their habitats are constantly being encroached by
plantations.
As well as being a base for the translocation team and a home
for a number of resident elephants, Kuala Gandah also aims to
promote public awareness of the elephant’s plight in Malaysian
and to support research into elephants translocation and
conservation. Visitors are welcome throughout the year to join
the elephant activities, help wash them in the nearby
river and participate in feeding..
The centre also strives to educate the public about the
importance of habitat and environmental preservation. visitors
are encouraged to view a video on elephant translocation and
special programme can be arranged for school groups.
The Elephants At The Center
At present, Kuala Gandah house a number of elephant which were
brought in from Thailand, India & Myanmar. The elephants are trained
and used in translocation process of wild elephants in problem
areas throughout Peninsular Malaysia. The centre also looks
after orphaned elephants to ensure their continued survival.

What Sue's Comments
"I have forwarded your company (Endemic Guides Eco Tour) to quite a
few colleagues and friends so hopefully they will
come out to the Elephant Sanctuary that we so much enjoyed. The kids
still talk about their day there so that is the main thing.
I have recently been to our local zoo here in Perth
and our daughter was once again telling all of her class
mates that she rode and played with the elephants in Malaysia.
I once again thank you for a wonderful trip and yes if I am
ever there again, I would certainly try and get back to the park
I strongly recommend Endemic Guides and their
programmes to everyone, they are experts and really
kind. We asked information about the elephant
programme by e-mail and we received answers always
very quickly. We booked this programme in advance
and agreed on a pick up time. When they needed to
change the time to an earlier one due to other
people we got a complimentary present which was
another short programme,
I think this is very kind and professional. Then
another challenge came, due to the Ramadan no food
was available in the village where usually guests
get a lunch but this was not a problem for our
guide, he took us to an excellent bakery where there
was a wide choice of sandwiches and home made
pasteries, it was absolutely fantastic and
delicious! We could choose as many things as we
wanted and our guide was really kind and forced
everyone to try more and different cakes and food,
we were really well treated!!! Both the guide and
the driver was really friendly, we were all
satisfied in the group. A special thanks to Jen, who
was in touch with us by e-mail and phone, he helped
a lot and he was always ready to answer to our
questions. Good team and programmes for valuable
price!

Thank you for your email and for posting our photos
up. Below a review of our tour of deerland and
elephant sanctuary with Lee, please post it on your
website.
Wendy and I had a fabulous time at Batu Caves,
Deerland Park and The Elephant Sanctuary and have
already recommended the tour to our friends, fellow
workmates and family.
We would especially like to thank Lee our wonderful
tour guide who picked us up at 9.15am on the dot in
front of our hotel. Lee was friendly, helpful and
great to talk to as he was very knowledgeable. The
trip to Kuala Gandah was not boring at all as Lee
talked to us about Malay culture, the different
areas in Malaysia and the exchanging of information
of our countries.
During the tour of all three destinations Lee kindly
took photos of us with our camera as well as his
camera. He took some excellent shots on his camera
as you can see on the website and we would like to
thank him for that as well. Lee was also great with
encouraging Wendy to interact with the animals as
she was quite scared to touch them, now when she
looks back at the photos she has no regrets at all
and will have fond memories of all the animals that
she encountered.
Our favourite part was bathing with the elephants..
something you never get to see or experience
anywhere else in the world. It was a delight to be
so close to the elephants.. from feeding.. riding to
bathing. We loved it so much we will probably be
back for more :)
To anyone who is reading this what are you waiting
for... make your booking now and get close to nature
like you never have before.. it's something you will
never forget! Wendy and I will never forget our
experiences in Malaysia!!! Thank you Endemic
Guides!!!
